چکیده

Recently, the many services for the cellular phone are spread. Therefore, the broadband antenna for handsets is required. In our previous paper [1], the planar folded dipole antenna (PFDA) with a feed line, which consists of two parallel lines has been introduced and its characteristics have been analyzed. As a result, it was found that PFDA with a feed line had a broadband characteristic and the feed line of a PFDA worked as an impedance transformer. The purpose of this study is to analyze the broadband characteristics of PFDA with a feed line on the dielectric substrate. We can expect that the resonant frequency of the antenna can be lowered by using the dielectric as the substrates, which leads to the miniaturization of the antenna. First, the parametric study on the feed line with respect to the length and spacing between two parallel lines is performed by using the electromagnetic simulator (CST Microwave Studio). Next, a prototype is fabricated and measured in order to verify the simulated results.

Investigations on Modeling and Simulation of Printed Folded Dipole Antenna

We have modeled and simulate asymmetric microstrip folded dipole antenna on substrate materials and study the antenna performances. The conventional wire dipole antenna configurations are converted into corresponding microstrip version. The complementary nature of parallel coplanar strip line and waveguide models have been used to model the dipole antenna. The transmission line parameters namel...

Self-balanced and Wideband Characteristics of Improved Built-in Folded Dipole Antenna for Handsets

In conventional antennas, such as a monopole antenna and a planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA) for handsets, some gain degradation has been often observed when the operator holds the handsets at a talk position. This is caused by the variation of the current on the conducting box used in the handset due to human body effect. Because of this point, we have to consider reducing the current flow on t...

Design of Multiband Balanced Folded Dipole Antenna Based on a Dual-arm Structure for Mobile Handsets

In this paper, a balanced antenna for mobile handset applications with enhanced bandwidth performance, that covers four bands (GSM1800, GSM1900, UMTS and 2.4-GHz WLAN), is investigated. The antenna is a slot planar dipole with folded structure and a dual-arm on each monopole. A wide bandwidth planar balun is employed to feed the wideband balanced antenna from an unbalanced source. A prototype o...

Simplified feed for modified printed Yagi antenna

A modified printed Yagi antenna with a simplified feed mechanism is proposed. In the new design, the driver dipole is fed by a transmission line formed by two parallel strips printed on opposite sides of the dielectric substrate. This simplified feed structure results in the reduction of the transmission line length, and, consequently, the radiation losses. The analysis of the modified Yagi ant...

A Capacitive Fed Microstrip Patch Antenna with Air Gap for Wideband Applications (RESEARCH NOTE)

In this paper a microstrip antenna on a suspended substrate with capacitive feed is presented. capacitive feed is created by a slot within the rectangular patch around the feed point. The proposed antenna exhibits a much higher impedance bandwidth of about 47% (S11 < −10 dB). Effects of key design parameters such as the air gap between the substrate and the ground plane, the gap width between r...
